Other technologies studies
Other research studies that have been published or that I am currently working on with my students include technologies such as Video Games for depression (SPARX), Online programs for depression in adolescents (CATCH-IT), an Online parenting course, Google glasses, and Virtual reality. Sparx is a video game that has been empirically tested for depression prevention and treatment in adolescents in New Zealand. Dr. Sally Merry has authorized us and we are the only researchers in the US working on this. CATCH-IT is an online depression prevention program for adolescents developed by Dr. Van Voorhees. I have already published two articles on CATCH-IT and have one under review. The online parenting course project consists of community-based participatory research, in collaboration with the Mountain View Whisman School District. For this project, I have invited Dr. Alayna Park (an assistant professor at PAU) and together we are testing different dissemination strategies of online parenting resources developed by Dr. Alan Kazdin (who granted us authorization to use his materials). We have already submitted two papers for this project.
